Intuition and the Washing Line!

Today a friend and I were discussing how the sacred reveals itself in our daily lives and how the present moment is always there, our intuitive voice is always there, yet sometimes we struggle to hear it.  Even when we hear it we can struggle to act on it

The proof in my life came in an ordinary domestic moment.  It is a mild autumn day here in Derbyshire and I have a load of washing (inevitably with two children!) to dry.  I check the BBC weather app and there is no rain forecast until 2am.  My thinking mind loves that.  Great, clothes dried on the line.  As I am hanging out the washing (one of my very favourite chores where I am alone, outside in the stillness thinking myself present) my small intuitive voice tells me quite clearly NOT to hang it outside.  “It won’t dry today” I hear (my intuition is brilliant at the small things – when to turn down the gas on the stove, when the fire needs more wood, when the washing really does need to be in the tumble drier….)

So, I hear my intuition loud and clear.  But my mind has seen the forecast so it must be wrong.  I spend 10 minutes hanging it out anyway whilst justifying the decision in my head.  It’s logic, right.  Anyway, I am creator of my own reality so if I act as if it won’t rain then it won’t, right?  Wrong. It is raining.  I am now soggy.  The washing is wetter than it started and in the tumble drier.  Note to self – listen to my intuition next time.  Listen to my intuition ALWAYS.  With love, the Universe xx
